Task

Design packaging for the dried fruit line of ZЁRNA, an organic food company.

Idea

Long before plastic was invented, Central Asia already had its own organic container: the dried and cleaned bottle gourd, known as lagenaria. People used it to carry liquids, food and even money.

We turned to history and brought the dried gourd back into use as natural packaging.

The gourd pack is an eco-friendly alternative to plastic made entirely of organic materials, including the lid and the applied logo. The bottle gourd keeps out light and moisture, which also makes it practical for transportation.

Results

Natural packaging for natural products.

The work received international recognition and brought Uzbekistan its first Epica Awards Gold and a Pentawards Silver.
